A true underdog, the Riverview Rams qualified for the 2012 4A Cross Country State Finals for the first time since 2005; placing 20th as a team last year. With none of their runners graduating, the Rams' look forward to a strong 2013 cross country season. The Rams could potentially have three runners in the sub-sixteen minute range, being led by Blake Riley, Warran Grajalez and Bryce Vokus, but they are going to have to do more to compete in the back of their order. Seniors Tyler Riley and Conner Allen along with junior Mathew Berman look to round out the top six.
In the 2013 track season, RHS showed potential with Bryce Vokus leading the team in the mile running 4:30's, and Blake Riley and Warran Grajalez leading in the 3200m running around 10:10, with both advancing to Regionals. “Knowing that our team is training really hard this summer and putting in a lot of work is making me excited,” says Sophomore Warran Grajalez. “We have a lot of potential as a team this year. I am looking forward to our Tri-County Championship this year. I feel like we can take home the gold and get revenge on our rivals: Sarasota High School.”

“With all the training this summer and hard work put in from our dedicated runners, I feel we will have a great team this year. We have a good chance at making a return to states this year and doing much better than last year. Our goals are indecisive. We just hope to go out into this season and do our best and bring a better, stronger force to the 4A XC Finals this year.”
Asst. Coach Paul Opitz Says...
“We are looking strong this year. We had a pretty good turnout at the Warrior Running Camp. Everybody is injury-free so far over the summer and training is looking good. We are hoping to return to states and make a solid mark for Riverview High XC.”
