Bromell Looks For Pan Am Gold Before Heading To Baylor

Gibbs star Trayvon Bromell will cap off his stellar high school career with a trip to Medellin, Columbia for the Pan-Am Junior Championships August 23 - August 25, 2013. It will be the first time the future Baylor Bear has been out of the country. After finishing first at the USA Junior Championships, with a time of 10.47, Bromell will take on the top international junior athletes. He will compete in both the 100 meter dash and as a member of the 4x100 meter relay and says he is excited for this experience.

"I'm looking forward to FAST times. I've had some time to talk to Tevin Hester who will also be running the 4x1 with me. We're just ready to break some records and put on a show for our country."

Bromell was scheduled to attend orientation for Baylor University, but is missing it due to this meet. He is no stranger to pressure and big meets after breaking the ten second barrier at Great Southwest and winning the 100 meter crown at New Balance Nationals and USA Juniors. He says he is treating this meet like any other.

"No hopes up or down, just focused.  I have no times in mind, but winning with a fast time would be lovely. It would be nice to end my high school career with a win."

Wearing the red, white, and blue, and representing Team USA is something Bromell always dreamed of. He says whether it was the Pan Am games, World Juniors, or someday the Olympics, he is happy for the opportunity. It is an opportunity that will put an exclamation to one of the best seasons the state of Florida has seen.

"This was just an all-around great senior season. I made a comeback nobody has ever done. I've set my mark, I have made history, and now I leave my legacy!. It's has just been a blessing and the thing I will remember the most is the love and support everyone gave me getting back on my feet and back on the track.!"

Also joining Bromell in Columbia are former Miami Carol City athlete Juan Paul Green (now at the University of Illinois), former Miami Jackson star Robin Reynolds (now at the University of Florida, and UCF freshman Alexis Faulkner. Green who will compete in the 400 meter dash as well as the 4x400 meter relay, has been to Australia for competition, and trained in Jamaica, but says rocking the Team USA jersey is something he's always dreamed of but never imagined.

"The feeling I have is awesome because I shocked myself by making the USA team, but I always knew I had it in me to do great things. I'm looking forward to making the podium and running a personal best at the games. I'm also looking forward to taking the gold in the 4x4 and just having a great run while representing the United States well.

Reynolds will be a member of the women's 4x400 meter relay team while Faulknor will compete in the long jump.
