Race Summaries
1A GIRLS
A large pack of girls hung tight through the half way point. That group was prominently fronted by Grace Casagrande, Alex Eaton, and Sarah Candiano. Eden Meyer, Julie Wollrath and Brittney Olinger hung on patiently toward the back of that lead pack.
Wollrath pushed the pace over the last mile and broke free from the pack. Alex Eaton tried to hang tight with her, falling off slightly toward the end to finish second in 18:22 with Wollrath eight seconds ahead in 18:14. Olinger (18:31) and Meyer (18:34) followed in for third and fourth, showing it pays to be patient. Casagrande hung on for fifth place 18:36, with Emily Chapman sneaking in front of Sarah Candiano in 18:38 and 18:44, respectively--great race for Chapman.
