Teahna Daniels tranferred to The First Academy for her junior season. TFA is also the site of Daniel's last race, the 2013 Golden South Classic. Daniels, then a sophomore at Dr. Phillip's was running strong in the 100 meters, hoping for a ticket to the Dream 100 in New York City, when she went down with an injury. In the months since she has been working with coach Ricky Argro on getting healthy and back to form.
Recently, Daniels and Argro traveled to to the CrossPlex Athletic Facility in Birmingham, Alabama for the Indoor Alumni Age Group Invitational. It would be an opportunity for the youngster to return to the track against some top notch competition. Well, if there was any doubt about her abilities she quickly silenced those critics. In the prelims of the 60 meter dash, Daniels ran away with the race and cruised to a US#1 time of 7.53 seconds (video below) and finished in 7.58 in the finals. She says it feels great to have such an exciting start to her young season.
"I work really hard for the last couple of months and to go to Alabama and perform like that means that all of this hard work is paying off."
Daniels also won the 200 meter dash in 24.93. It should make for an interesting weekend in Gainesville at the end of January for the Jimmy Carnes Indoor meet where the state's best will all converge!
