Kai Martin and Elli Black win at the Parker Valby Mile 2024


Running unattached, Elli Black and Kai Martin of the Cambridge (Christian) School win at the Parker Valby Holiday Mile. Both, coming off of strong cross-country seasons and with no speedwork, showed their conditioning from the cross-country season and a preview of what the track season may have in store.

Black 
placed second in the 1A FHSAA Cross Country State Finals this year, with an 18:17.20, and was the top girl finisher at 5:02.36. She split 74.37, 2:31.99 (77.63), 3:50.16 (78.18), and 5:02.36 (72.20). Black has a PR in the mile of 4:54.60 that she ran in a 3rd place finish at the Music City Track Carnival in 2023.

Martin, who was 6th in the 1A FHSAA Cross Country State finals this year with a 16:03.40 and last spring finished second in the FHSAA 1A state 800m with a 1:54.73, ran a PR of 4:18.31. He split 58.94, 2:05.92 (66.99), 3:14.19 (68.27), and 4:18.31 (64.13).
