2014 has been a good year so far for Bolles senior Harry Glasser. In his first meet of the year at the Durham Striders Invitational, he cleared 16'0 and putting his name in the indoor national rankings. He followed that up with a 15'6" mark at the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Meet for win number two. That was the only tune ups he needed to get ready for the 2014 outdoor season. At the Eagle Open Invitational, he cleared a new personal best 16'4.75" or 5 meters. He says that was the goal to open up the season.
The opening height was 14'6". I was clean up to 16'1" and cleared 16'"4 on the third attempt. I was just in amazing rhythm and felt really good. I was really pumped and felt a lot of pressure lifted because that was my goal for the first meet."
The mark is US#1 in this young outdoor season the third best on the Flrunners All-Time Top 25 trailing only Riley Egan (16'7") and Mike Vani (16'8"). Glasser, a University of Florida signee went for the record and more, going after 16'10", but failed to clear it. He says is attempts were all close and had he had a bigger pole, he possibly could have cleared it.
"We are figuring out where to get the next pole up. Five meters was the goal start the season and progress from there. I am just taking it one bar at a time."
