Running against the best juniors in the nation, Estero High alumni and NC State freshman, Bona Jones, took second place at the USA Cross Country championships today in Boulder, Colorado.
Jones, who burst on to the Florida scene her junior year, after growing up in Germany, was beat out only by 15-year-old starlet Jordan Hassay of California. She bested many nationally well-known names such as Footlocker runner-up Aurora Scott, Aislinn Ryan, and Marie Lawrence. The 18-year-old college freshman from Fort Myers covered the 6K course in 21:58. In doing so, she earns a spot on Junior Team USA and will compete at the IAAF World Championship in Kenya on March 24, 2007.
Congratulations, Bona! You make Florida proud!
