Calvary Christian (Ft. Lauderdale) senior Tayler McDuffie is a huge asset to their success as she is one of the top throwers in 2A right now. Last year she placed sixth in the shot put in the 1A State Finals with a throw of 37"0'. Since then she’s increased her personal best by five feet. McDuffie, a University of Central Florida signee is the 2A District 15 shot put winner, and Region 4 runner-up, and is projected to finish second at the 2A state meet.
How did you get into the sport of track and field?
I started my freshman year not knowing what I was going to do and then God just put me exactly where I had to be.
What were your goals at the beginning of the season?
My goal in the beginning of the year was to throw 42-43 feet in the shot put.
What are you goals now that the state meet is approaching?
My goal is to throw 43-44 feet.
Do you prefer the discus or shot put?
I definitely prefer the shot put. That is my specialty.
What is your favorite moment this season so far?
My favorite moment of the season was at the Ft. Lauderdale City Meet, when I PR’d and got to see all the friends I’ve made over the years in track.
How do you think your team is looking going into the state meet?
It’s going to be tough since we moved up to 2A, but I have faith in my team, that they will compete well.
Who do you look up to in the track and field world?
I Love Lolo Jones even though she’s a hurdler and I'm a thrower. I love her values and determination.
Do you look to up to any high school athletes? If so who?
I really look Lloydricia Cameron of Miami Northwestern. She’s such a great thrower.

When you’re not running what do you like to do?
I love to hang out with friends and watch movies

White lions are my favorite wild animals.
