What was your most memorable race/moment?
My most memorable moment was winning the Gateway Panthers Classic. It was my first big win of the season and it put our team on the map in the sprints and relays. I also enjoyed running in the throwers 4x1.
Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
My biggest competition was my teammate my junior season Colton Plante. We pushed each other for the school record every week.
What was your greatest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment was winning the state championship senior year as well as finally breaking the school record.
If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
I would have started throwing freshman year. If I had done that I could be throwing a few feet farther than where I am at now.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
My biggest obstacles were overcoming injuries and not having a coach senior year. I had sprained my MCL in football, and it kept acting up throughout the season. Also, my coach from my junior season left to go to college, so I had to balance practicing on my own and teaching the seven new throwers we had this year.
What will you miss the most?
I’ll miss coming out to practice everyday and competing with my teammates Vic Thomas and Allen Wiggins, and competing in the meets.
What advice would you give to younger athletes?
Never be afraid to try something new. I did my junior year and ended up being a state champion the next year. Also always compete your hardest everyday. It makes no difference whether it is a meet or just practice. Give your all in everything you do.
What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
My coaches have inspired me to work harder than everyone else, and to never make excuses. They taught me that I need to compete in every aspect of life, especially my education.
What are your college plans?
I am playing football at Florida International University, and hopefully will continue my shot put career there.
Who would you like to say thank you to?
I would like to thank all my coaches and teammates for pushing me to compete every day, and be the best at whatever I do.
