Salute To Seniors: Donovon Mundy - Andrew jackson HS

What was your most memorable race/moment?

My most memorable race was when I won our districts for cross-country this year leading the team to our first ever cross-country title. It was a awesome experience making history.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

My biggest competition over my four years has been P.D. McCawley from Episcopal. He's an amazing runner and have good words of encouragement. Battling it out in the 800 has been great with P.D.. He beat me my junior year and and then I won this year.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment has to be when I ran the 3200 for the first time at the Wolfpack Classic and I ran a 9:54:77. It was crazy because I never ran the 3200 this season.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would change the nervousness I had not running the 3200,1600, & 800 at districts. I was worried about getting very low in the 800 and I gave up my other events I could have gotten very low in.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacle I had to overcome was giving it my all on the track. Running for Jackson we don't go to many big meets at all, so you really have to run on your own for time. Running against the good schools is hard because they already have such great competition.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss running at Bob Hayes because it's an amazing event because for a great cause and I'm very thankful for winning it my senior year.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

The advice I would give to younger runners is to always stay humble and train hard because there is always someone out there training harder.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

The influence my coach had was always believing in me even when I didn't. He trained me very hard to have outstanding results. He has been an amazing second.father. I love you Coach Chapman.

What are your college plans?

I have committed to Virginia Union University to run cross country and track. I plan on majoring in Physical Education.

What are your college plans?

I would like to thank God of course. He's my life and strength. I'm a very blessed runner and I thank him all the time.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

I would like to tell everyone to look out for me because this is just the beginning.
