St. Thomas Aquinas sprinter Diamond Spaulding traveled the country this summer in hopes of getting the best competition possible. Spaulding, the 4A runner-up in the 200 and fifth place finisher in the 100 meter dash concluded her junior season at the Golden West Invitational in Sacramento, California. She says she headed out west to get one more meet in before the season was over and wasn't anticipating a personal best.
"I didn't get much training in before the meet so I was just hoping to go out and get a little more competition before I put an end to the season."
Spaulding finished third in a time of 11.81 behind Candace Hill, the freshman phenom from Georgia, and Ngozi Musa of Seattle, Washington. Running into a negative wind, she clocked a time of 23.91. Hill was first in 23.53.

Much like 2014, the 2015 season will be a key year for Spaulding, one of the top sprinters in the country. She will definitely be fun to watch especially in future match ups with arguably the nation's best sprinter, Kaylin Whitney of East Ridge, who is also in 4A.
