World Juniors Day Three: Whitney,Holmes Advance To Finals In 200m & 400m Hurdles

100m bronze medalist Kaylin Whitney and former Lakewood hurdler and Baylor freshman T.J. Holmes both advanced to the finals in their respective events after day three.Whitney owns the second fastest time headed into tomorrow night's 200m final and is looking for another medal, while holmes has the third fastest mark and hopes to join teammate Trayvon Bromell as Team USA men medalists.

Kaylin Whitney's first round time of 23.31 is the fastest time of all the heats. She comes in with the world junior leading time in this event and is regarded as one of the favorites. 100m champion Dina Asher-Smith did not start her heat due to an injured hamstring. Whitney came back in the semi-finals and improved her time with a 23.05 showing to win heat three. Her time is the second fastest headed into tomorrow night's finals behind Irene Ekelund of Sweden. The rising junior is ready to capture another medal.

Kendal Williams shocked  many in the track world last night when he upset favorite Trayvon Bromell to take home the 100m crowd. A six-time Florida state champion, Williams finished third in his heat of the 200 meters with at ime of 21.16. Time might not have been as important as just advancing to the next round. Afterwards, Williams tweeted out that he felt a little sore in what was his fourth race in two days. That soreness and fatigue might have played a factor in the night's semi-final where he was sixth in a loaded first heat. Future FSU teammate Trentavis Friday had the fastest time of the three heats with a 20.35 clocking. See what Williams had to say after the race.

After a solid opening heat yesterday Baylor freshman and former Lakewood standout TJ Holmes took first in heat one of the semifinals to advance to tonight's finals. His time of 50.80 is the third fastest headed into tonight. Can Holmes become the second Baylor athlete, joining teammate and best friend Trayvon Bromell to bring home a medal back to Waco and their native 727.

Bad luck for Nick Anderson as he clips several hurdles and finishes last in the 110m hurdle finals. Still a great showing by the former Wekiva standout and University of Kentucky freshman.
