10. Tsion Yared (Pine Crest School) - 7th grade - 18:27.46
I still remember Tsion's mom coming up to me and telling me to watch out for her daughter who was only a sixth grader. That was at the FSU Invitational/Pre-State where Yared finished 11th in a new personal best of 18:27.46. That time is one of the fastest in the nation for the class of 2020. She went onto finish third at the district and regional meets before placing sixth at the 2A Cross Country Finals to help Pine Crest finish as runner-up. Three weeks later she competed against some of the top distance runners in the region at the Nike Southeast in North Carolina, crossing the line in 25th, just shy of her personal best. Yared continued her impressive debut on the track running 5:06.56 and 11:01.82 to finish third and fourth respectively at the 2A state meet.
