Each year the flrunners.com Invitational attracts the best teams from every corner of the state. With over 300 teams and nearly 4,500 athletes now signed up, 2014 is no exception. The goal of many teams is to earn a coveted invitation to compete in the Race of Champions. For many that is a goal they have worked for over several seasons. For perenial powerhouses, it is a yearly badge of honor and midseason opportunity to face off against the teams looking to challenge them for a podium position in November.
We will invite a total of 25 teams to compete in this race over the coming weeks; here are the first ten that we welcome into the race. After the big invitationals this weekend, we'll issue around five more invitations, and then do one final round before race weekend. Typically, we will only invite teams with a legitimate shot of finishing in the top ten at the state championship meet. Our Invitational division is the second tier elite race, which we will also be extending invitations to those top 20 at the state meet caliber teams who didn't quite get into the ROC. Good luck everyone and thank you for supporting the meet again this year.
