Our "panel of experts" collaborated to put together our hypothetical All-Star team to represent Florida for the 2007 season. We put together our boys and girls first and second team picks--with a total of forty athletes selected. We also selected our boys and girls athelte of the year and rookie of the year.
Selections were evaluated based on in season performance and consistency, with a larger emphasis placed on late season performances and especially the state meet. While we decided against having a set number of athletes per event, we approached it trying to keep in mind who we would select if we were the coach of a hypothetical national meet. So with that in mind, we tried to "spread the love" among different events to earn a maximum number of points at that mythical national meet.
Hopefully this can promote a minor amount of controversy and a lot of conversation on the forum, but please don't take it too seriously! It's all in fun!
