Girls State Rankings by Classifications:

1A Girls Rankings
By: Kyle Butler, Florida Southern, kyledbutler@gmail.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: The Holy Trinity Tigers are your clear cut favorites so far but a lot can change over the final month of the season. Pre State will clarify a lot and will provide me with a lot of head to head competition to make this rankings a lot more just. I did my best with what information I could find and I encourage all coaches to email me with any information they have that could help make these rankings better.

  Team Name (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Holy Trinity (NR) Has 7-10 girls that have or are close to breaking 20 minutes in the 5k. This depth helps a lot obviously but you can only run 7 at State where anything can happen.
2. Oak Hall (NR) Coach Edwin will have his ladies ready to race come state and I would fully expect to see a sub 20 team average by then.
3. Community School of Naples (NR) Lead by Sophie Barry and Lindsay Tomaini they have a very strong 1-2 punch and could move up if the pack gets close
4. Westminster Christian School (NR) A VERY strong 1-4 and I have no doubt that their #5 will close that gap by State
5. Maclay (NR) They haven't run on a fast course yet and Coach Droze will have them ready for State….as usual
6. First Academy (Orlando) (NR)
7. Shorecrest Prep (NR)
8. St. Johns Country Day School (NR)
9. Baker Senior HS (NR)
10. Brevard Heat (NR)
11. Calvary Christian (Clearwater) (NR)
12. Evangelical Christian School (NR)
13. Pensacola Christian Academy (NR)
14. Melbourne Central Catholic (NR)
15. Benjamin School (NR)

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: I believe Sarah Candiano should be the favorite because she has the best leg speed and has the ability to let the race come to her at State. I fully expect Shelby Smith and Emily Chapman to make her earn that individual title though.

  Athlete Name (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Sarah Candiano (NR) The clear cut favorite in my book but Pre State will tell a lot.
2. Shelby Smith (NR) Has beaten Emily Chapman head to head every time they have raced this season.
3. Emily Chapman (NR) If she races like she did at the State track meet she will contend for the title.
4. Rebecca Clark (NR) Ran her best time at Astronaut early in the season. Waiting to get on another fast course.
5. Brianna Basford (NR) The 2nd Tiger based on time but their pack is so tight this could be one of 5 Tigers.
6. Maleia Storum (NR) The stellar Senior has the potential to be a top 5 runner if she wants it bad enough.
7. Lindsay Rosenberg (NR) Ran a great time on a muddy Flrunners course. Probably should be ranked higher than this
8. Maya Espinosa (NR) Her times have been all over the place so it's hard to predict where she will end up
9. Sydney Friedel (NR) Another herrier for the Tigers that is young and motivated.
10. Marie Groppel (NR) Put in a lot of work this summer and it is showing with some early fast times.
11. Kaytlyn Buschman (NR) Ran 20:34 most recently
12. Samantha Folio (NR) The leader of the HT squad that will run fast when it matters. Had a great race at Great American.
13. Sydney Smith (NR) Has great 800 speed and is quite the competitor
14. Victoria Hoppe (NR) Ran a solid 20:10 at Flrunners under tough conditions and is experienced at big meets
15. Sophie Barry (NR) Ran a great time at Great American. Rounding into form at the right time. Could contend for a top 10 spot
16. Chelsea Basford  (NR) Had a little bit of an off race at Great American but should bounce back at Pre State.
17. Hannah Brookover (NR)
18. Lindsay Tomaini (NR)
19. Brooke Santiesteban (NR)
20. Olivia Rovin (NR)
21. Caroline Willis (NR)
22. Bobbi Labrant (NR)
23. Lauren Cochran (NR)
24. Natasha Strump (NR)
25. Jasmine Hincapie (NR)

2A Girls Rankings
By: Mike Becker, Ransom Everglades, mbecker@ransomeverglades.org

Team Rankings:

Commentary: I have been in this business a long time (some say too long). The Pine-Crest / Bolles November dual meet match up will be epic. What happens in October is NOT often an accurate predictor of November. But this one will be interesting nonethless. Prove me wrong, but I think these two teams will either be 1-2, 1-3 or 2-3 this weekend across classes. Thats how good they are!!!  As for this week, with such a large field, edge to Bolles with more depth at 5-6-7.... but not by much... Other teams will be in the Select race. I still l think Ransom is 3 though they are struggling at 5. If they don't lower gap, they might be third in November. Their top 3 are solid as rocks, with their number two approachng elite status. Carrollton is lurking, St Brendans is rising.. Lemon Bay is deep, West Florida Tech is experienced, and Titusville just ran real fast.... All those schools are on Ransom's tail for third.

  Team Name (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Bolles (1) they just keep rolling along
2. Pine Crest (2) Won at Mountain Dew - Not as deep as Bolles, but almost equal 1-5
3. Ransom Evereglades (3) 5th man blues at Youth Fair prevented a victory, but best Ransom team in several years
4. Lemon Bay (4) Experienced program - smallest 1-5 gap on list
5. West Florida tech (5) Look for these guys to challenge top 3
6. Carrollton (6) they are hiding- you know they will show more soon
7. St Brendans (7) How will they compete on a fast course?
8. Titusville (10) Fast times recently… could be higher
9. Berkeley Prep (9)
10. Lake Highland Prep (8)
11. Rockledge (NR)
12. Academy of Holy Names (NR)
13. Bishop Kenny (NR)
14. Bishop Moore (NR)

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Yared and Wilson will meet for first time. Vegas has it as "pick em" even odds. Montgomery always a threat. List now goes through 16. Fairly confident with top 8 ( in some order), all of whom will be at pre state I think ( though in different races). Its been hard to rank with "head to head matchups" this year. Mountain Dew was vicously fast (much faster than other major meets), while other courses are either in mud, 3 miles ( Fleet Feet), 3.2 like Larry and Penny, or on road. After this week, the crystal ball will become clearer.

Athlete Name – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Yared Tsion- Pine Crest (1) Victory at FL runners keeps her as the rabbit
2. Mackenzie Wilson - Bolles (2) Top chaser will meet Yared at pre state
3. Julia Montgomery - Pine Crest  (3) Two time defending state champion until the next race is won - never count her out
4. Alyssa Pujals - Gulliver (5) Ichign closer to ther top 3 but not there yet
5. Lauren Archer- Ransom Everglades (4) A bit off at FL RUNNERS
6. Morgan Lucey - Episcopal  (6) Fast time at Mountain dew indicates she might be as high as 4th on this list
7. Ally Hajda- Bolles (7) #2 for Bolles but a clear top 10 runner
8. Rachel Shapiro - Bolles  (8) Runs fats at bale n Trail- also a top 10 runner
9. Leigha Torino - North Marion (9) Fast at Mountain Dew
10. Audrey Mcnally- Trinity Prep (NR) 18:29 Friday at FL RUNNERS
11. Hannah Fleming- Titusville (NR) Fast time on fast course this last week
12. Mahdere Yared- Pine Crest (12) Top 6th grader in state
13. Maddie Fulmer - South Walton (NR) 19:22 fast course
14. Michaela Ashley- Arnold (NR) 19:29 fast course
15. Raleigh Nebitt- West Florida tech (11) In the mix towards top 10
16. Betariz Ruan- Ransom Everglades (NR) strong race in mud
17. Abi Weinfeld- Lemon Bay (10) solid runner

3A Girls Rankings
By: John Stevenson, Sarasota HS, john.stevenson@sarasotacountyschools.net

Team Rankings:

Commentary: The 3A race is turning into an awesome battle. After the battle this week, I think it may be coming down to 4 teams: Creekside, Sarasota, Ft. Myers, and Ocala Vanguard. We will be seeing the top 3 battle it out at Pre-State and we will see how Seabreeze bounces back at Regionals against Ocala.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:

3. Fort Myers, 3 (3) Placed 16th in  Great American ROC with 19:45 average.

10. King, 3 (10) Idle last week. Placed 5th at Seffner Christian a week ago
11. Fort Walton Beach, 1 (11) 1st place at Rutherford Ram Run. Looks like more consistency. Maybe a break out race at Pre-State?

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Looks like the battle for individual title seems wide open after the first month of the season. Not much has changed with SB's because of the slower Flrunners, but some individual battles keep going back and forth.

4A Girls Rankings
By: Ryan Raposo, John A. Ferguson HS, ryanraposo@gmail.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: I still see this as a two team race, although WP is the heavy favorite, followed by a strong third team in Lake Mary with Timber Creek not too far behind. After that it's a jumble between a good four or five teams in shooting for top five honors. The Flrunners Invitational gave us a lot of head-to-head performances, and some legitmate 5k times for once as compared to the traditional 'everyone PRs by 45 seconds' routine. Therefore most of the performances from this week are comparable, although Great American was probably about 15-20 seconds faster than the others, and John I Leonard was extremely fast.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Lots of athletes ran at Flrunners this week, which made this fairly easy for comparison. St. Thomas was IDLE the past two weeks, and I feel Great American was 15-20 seconds faster than the other courses run lately. Hopefully better weather at the FSU Pre-State Invitational will allow for the best legitimate comparisons as most of these top individuals will be racing head-to-head.

Boys State Rankings by Classifications:

1A Boys Rankings
By: Mark Caulfield, Circle Christian School, markscaul@aol.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Although there was not a lot of movement in the team polls this week, there was better clarity with more teams going head  to head against one another in various meets highlighted by the 15th Annual FLrunners.com Invitational. While the Top 5 teams seem to be pretty solid, there appears to be a log jam at 6-15 with numerous teams in search of consistency, health, and a solid #5 man. Stating the obvious, how far these teams improve will be dependent upon how well the team collectively improve over the next month and how tight can they bring their #5 runners toward the pack.  One team that shows no problem with this is Holy Trinity Academy who just continues to improve and get faster as the season progresses exemplified by an outstanding team run at Great American. This team is having another great season and the race for 1A appears to be for second (again, stating the obvious). Maclay had an easy two weeks with a light schedule while The Geneva School moved closer with improved performances at Embry Riddle and FLrunners. They both race togeher at Pre-State which should show where each stands against on other in their battle towards the "Podium". Close behind though is Indian Rocks Christan and Shorecrest Prep who both have the talent to surge should either of these two stumble. The season is getting interesting now. Good luck to all at Pre-State as the Regular Competitive Season begins to draw towards a close.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Holy Trinity Academy, Region 3 (1) Finished 13th at the prestigious Great American XC Festival in Cary, North Carolina, site of the Nike Cross National (NXN) Southeast Region race. Team averaged 16:20 with a 1:05 spread for their Top 5. This talented group continues to get stronger.
2. Maclay School, Region 1 (2) A light two weeks with a low key win at the Tallahassee Open City Championship. With a 17:45 top 5 team average still solidly maintains the #2 spot.
3. The Geneva School, Region 2 (3) Inching up a little closer towards the top with steady improvement, the Knights won the Small School Division at the Embry Riddle Classic and finished 16th at the FLrunners Race of Champions with a 17:49 team avearage.
4. Indian Rocks Christian, Region 3 (4) Finished 5th at the Seffner Christian Invitational and then 6th at the Land O' Lakes Gator Invitational with an 18:16 team average and 1:18 spread. Solid team 1-7 that is consitently improving each week and could make a run at the Top 3.
5. Shorecrest Prep, Region 3 (7) Perhaps still underachieving a bit with the amount of talent returning from last year, but this team is steadily improving with a 2nd place finish at FLrunners Small School (Friday) Race with an 18:38 team average.  Should be there when it counts!
6. Pensacola Christian Academy, Region 1 (6) A tough team to get a solid read on when their location hampers much head to head with some of the other 1A teams. Even still a 7th place finish at the T.R. Miller Challenge in Alabama with an 18:30 average and 1:30 team spread shows promise.
7. Melbourne Central Catholic, Region 3 (9) Finished 3rd at the Small School (Friday) division at FLrunners with an 18:58 team average and 0:32 spread. This is an intriguing team with the tighest top 5 and 7 spread in the top 10.  If they continue to progress and move up, they could be a top 5 threat.
8. Westminster Academy, Region 4 (5) Finished 4th with an 18:54 team average in the Small School (Friday) division at FLrunners. Strong up front with McCracken and this team has a history of coming on strong in the end.
9. Circle Chrisian School, Region 2 (8) Ran 19:03 team average finishing 4th in the Small School (Saturday) division at FLrunners. Solid 1-4 but team depth is an issue holding them back. If they get healthy and a 5th steps up, could make big jump forward.
10. Father Lopez, Region 2 (10) A fourth place finish at the Embry Riddle Classic with a 19:23 team average on their tough home course followed by a 13th place finish at the FLrunners Invitational race with a 19:20 team average and 1:29 top 5 spread.
11. P.K. Yonge, Region 2 (15) The Blue Wave jumps up a little bit in rankings this week following their 13th place showing and 18:49 team average at Bale & Trail. Like many other teams, if they close the gap with 4 and 5, the team has the makeup to move up significatnly.
12. Miami Country Day, Region 4 (11) Finished 3rd in the 1A/2A division at Spanish River and won their own Miami Country Day meet at Greynolds Park with an 18:53 team average.
13. Seffner Christian Academy, Region 3 (16) Finished 7th in their own Seffner Christian Invitational with a 19:07 team average followed by a 15th place showing in the Invititaion Division of FLrunners with a 19:15 team average. Perkins is having a great season but how far the team goes rests with runners 2-7.
14. Westminster Christian, Region 4 (12) Finished 18th in the Invitation division at FLrunners with a 19:36 team average. Tight pack 1-7 that needs to collectively move up for to improve in the rankings.
15. John Carroll HS, Region 4 (NR) Enters the rankings for the first time this season with a 6th place finish in the Small School (Friday) Division at FLrunners with a 19:29 team average.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Thankfully, we are starting to hit some meets where head to head competition begins to help position these talented top Class 1A boys. These last two weeks saw a number of common races and familiar courses. At the top of the rankings the first five remain the same with a slight change at the very top. Senior Andrew Cacciatore from Holy Trinity Academy continues his consistent streak of top performances with a personal best 15:46 clocking at Great American. At the number 2 spot is last years State Cross Country Champ Franco Martins from Windermere Prep who seemed to struggle down the stretch at the FLrunners.com Invitational running 16:28 and finishing 9th in the Race of Champions. He will look to rebound at Pre-State when 4 of the the top 5 all meet for the first time this year in the Elite Race together.  No real surprises or big changes in the next 5-6 positions either as some slightly changed based on common races together, but the group has remained relatively constant with very consistent performances. At this point there really has not been any real "surprises" like in years past. But they are out there for sure. Who will they be? October is the month of truth.....

2A Boys Rankings
By: Bryan Garcia, Tampa Plant HS, bcgfalcons@yahoo.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Oh how the tables have turned. Or almost. Trinity Prep stands atop 2A as they have thus far this season. But major moves in the top 10 as a busy weekend of races had 2A shuffling itself. Bishop Kenny made big moves at Mandarin as well as PCHS in Alabama. McKeel and Crest slip at a water logged flrunners.com Invite as Titusville stays idle and rides out the craziness into the top 5 as we head into a weekend with big meets galore!

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Trinity Prep, Region 2 (1) 16:56 team average in flrunners.com Invite large school race. With a 101 point victory, TP rolled to a victory as they gear up for the elite race at Pre-State this weekend.
2. Bishop Kenny, Region  (5) Don't count BK out yet! Competed at Great American taking 5th (17:16 average) in Red Invite race. With a 53 second 1-5 gap, this team looks to contend in Invite race at Pre-State.
3. Pensacola Catholic, Region 1 (4) 17:41 team average at T.R. Miller Challenge (AL) to take second. Losing by 10 points with a 1-5 split of 58 seconds, this team is ready to battle the best of 2A in Tallahassee.
4. Titusville HS, Region 4 (6) 17:10 average (2nd) at Rockledge Invite 2 weekends ago. With number 1 man Jones in elite race we will see what they can do in Invite race at FSU.
5. Pine Crest, Region 4 (3) With a 17:44 average in flrunners.com ROC, they took 6th place beating out McKeel by 14 points as they prepare for a showdown in Tallahassee elite race with TP and company.
6. McKeel Academy, Region 3 (2) Edged out by PCHS in flrunners.com ROC with a 17:51 team average. These guys are in the thick of things 2A as they prepare for a massive fight in Tallahassee this weekend.
7. Labelle HS, Region 3 (8) 17:37 team average at Sebring Invite for the win. This team is coming on strong as of late and putt all 5 guys in the top 15 making them dangerous with potential in mid-October.
8. West Florida Tech, Region 1 (13) They're backkk! They were 8th in the first rankings and had a 18:04 average (9th) at Gulf Coast Stampede and a 17:51 at T.R. Miller Challenge (AL) to get them back into the top 10.
9. Immokalee HS, Region 3 (12) Finished 17th in ROC at flrunners.com with a 17:58 average. In the Varsity A race at Pre-States this weekend, they will look to make some noise even with Velasquez in elite race.
10. Bolles HS, Region 1 (10) Placed 3rd with an 18:10 average at Mandarin Invite. After an 11th place loss to Bishop Snyder two weekends ago, they head into this weekend in the Invitational race at Pre-State.
11. Nature Coast Tech, Region 2 (15) Finished 4th at the Land O Lakes Invite with an 18:20 team average. Will compete at the Whispering Pines Invite this weekend. This team is moving up fast.
12. Lake Highland Prep, Region 2 (NR) Finished 4th in the large school race at flrunners.com Invite with an 18:22 team average. They race this weekend in Tallahassee in the Invitational against some stiff 2A competition.
13. Bishop Snyder HS, Region 1 (NR) Another unranked team previously, they upset Bolles two weekends ago at Bale N Trail (18:29 average). They placed 8th 5 spots back of Bolles at Mandarin (18:40 average).
14. Tampa Jesuit, Region 3 (9) Finished 21st in ROC at flunners.com Invite (18:26 average). With a tough race this past weekend, they are in the Invitational race at Pre-State as they look to mix it up in 2A.
15. Ransom Everglades, Region 4 (NR) Surprise but not surprise. Ran an 18:59 team average at flrunners.com Invite to place 8th. All of that without star Correa who ran in ROC. They will be without him this weekend too as they compete in the Varsity A race (he's in the elite).

Next Three In - It's midway through the season so I thought I would throw this in because quite frankly, these teams could all be in the top 15 on any given day (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER):
  A. Berkeley Prep has had a strange couple of weeks, beginning with not having enough to score at the Seffner Christian Invite and then culminating in a 6th place finish (18:38 average) at flrunners.com Invite large school race. I had them ranked 7th two weeks ago after an impressive race at UF and their team average suggest they should be in the top 15 for sure, but with only 5 guys and a lot of season left, I'm going to let this play itself out.
  B. Calvary Christian Academy (Ft. Lauderdale) had a solid outing in the Invitational race at flrunners.com Invite taking 10th with a 19:01 average. This team, led by stud Lacy, looks interesting and could be pushing itself into the top 15 in the coming weeks.
  C. Rockledge HS also has had some odd things going on as of late. They looked good early in the season, but at flrunners this past weekend they were missing their number 2-4 guys as they placed 16th (19:30 average) in the Invitational race behind 2A foes Ransom Everglades, Calvary Christian, and West Shore. I'm not sure if they were testing or worse, but one of them also missed the prior meet to that. It is something to keep an eye on as the season continues.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: In a weekend filled with race, almost everyone on the list moved spots. Mason Jones showed why he should be the favorite for a state championship at the Rockledge Invite. Chas Cook continued his winning ways with the win in the large school race at the flrunners.com Invite. 5 of the top 10 runners weren't even in the top 10 two weeks ago! There were major moves and will continue to be as we head in to Pre-State weekend!

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Mason Jones - 10th - Titusville HS (4) Raced two weeks ago at Rockledge running away with the win in 15:51. He picked up his first win of the season and reclaimed the fastest time in 2A.
2. Chas Cook - 11th - Trinity Prep  (2) Picked up the win in 16:19 in the large school race Friday night at flrunners.com Invite. On a roll with back to back wins as we head into the middle of October.
3. Urias Velasquez - 12th - Immokalee HS (8) Making huge steps with his 16:19 (5th) in ROC at flrunners.com Invite. He placed 3rd the week prior at Southwest Invite. He will be vying for a state championship.
4. Joel Lacy - 11th - Calvary Christian Acad (9) 16:24 (7th) in ROC at flrunners.com Invite. Coming off of back to back wins, he was right behind Velasquez this past weekend as it was his 4th top ten finish this year.
5. Gabriel Correa -11th - Ransom Everglades (14) 16:35 to place 13th in the ROC at flrunners.com Invite. Ran into him at Cracker Barrel Friday night where he promised I would regret ranking him so low. And he did.
6. Zack Weaver - 12th - Pasco HS (1) Ran 16:53 to place 21st in the ROC at flrunners.com Invite. Although he had a rough day, he is still in the hunt early in October.
7. Trent Mandato - 10th - Trinity Prep (19) 16:40 in the large school race at flrunners.com Invite to place 2nd. The sophomore is getting better as the season continues as he breaks into the top 10.
8. Michael Kennedy - 10th - Pine Crest HS (11) 16:55 to finish 23rd in ROC at flrunners.com Invite. He was 2 spots back of Weaver and has been putting together a strong sophomore campaign.
9. Alejandro Ruiz - 11th - Immokale HS (18) 17:08 to place 29th in ROC at flrunner.scom Invite. Placed 4th the week before at Southwest Invite and looks to his his stride into the middle of October.
10. Nic Jacobsen -11th - St. Andrews HS  (10) Ran a tough 17:11 to place 34th in ROC at flrunners.com Invite. Everyone has a bad race and I'm sure he will rebound with a fury.
11. Connor Vaughan - 12th - Wolfson HS  (6) 16:41 at BNT and followed that up with the win at the Mandarin Invite (16:45). The irony is that he won his first meet and has momentum going into mid season.
12. Tyler Skidelsky - 12th - Lake Highland Prep (23) 16:50 at flrunners.com large school race to place 4th. Making his way back into the top 15, the senior looks ready to end his career on the podium in November.
13. Trevor Foley - 9th - Nature Coast Tech (13) 16:55 this past weekend making it his 3rd straight race under 17. Back to back third place finishes (Mitchell Invite and Land O Lakes) have him looking into the top 10.
14. Jesse Millson - 11th - Trinity Prep  (5) 17:03 to place 6th in flrunners.com large school race. Just like Vaughan, he fell out of the top 10 this past weekend although he's very capable of climbing back in.
15. Alexander Bullock 11th - West Florida Tech (12) 16:48 at T.R. Miller Challenge in Alabama to place 4th this past weekend. He remains a constant in the top 15 as we head into the middle of October.
16. Jason Caldwell - 12th - Tampa Jesuit (24) 17:19 in the flrunners.com Invite ROC. He placed 37th there and 7th the week before at Mitchell Invite (16:54) and is running strong against competition.
17. Antonio Gomez - 9th - Frostproof HS  (NR) 16:47 at the Sebring Invite placing 2nd. The freshmen has had a solid season and jumped back into the rankings as he goes 4 for 4 so far in the top 5 this season.
18. Sadrick Severe - 12th - Mount Dora HS (21) Had a quiet 17:27 small school unseeded victory at flrunners.com Invite this past weekend. The win will not go unnoticed though as the senior looks to finish strong.
19. Casey Brady - 12th - McKeel Academy (16) Had a couple tough races finishing in 17:14 at Mitchell two weeks ago (14th) and 17:22 in flrunners.com ROC (41st). The senior will look to bounce back at Pre-State.
20. Jonathon Pugh - 10th - Titusville HS  (NR) 16:46 at Rockledge Invite two weekends ago to finish 5th. Another good sophomore at THS, this youngster is looking at a top 20 finish with his teammate Jones.
21. Grant Kemp - 10th - Pensacola Catholic HS  (15) 17:12 at T.R. Miller Challenge (AL) to finish 7th this past weekend. He finished top 10 in every race so far this season and looks to breakout in Pre-State elite race.
22. Austin Camps - 10th - West Shore HS  (10) 17:45 at flrunners.com Invite Invitational race. He finished 16:29 the week before at Rockledge. Following a down performance, you can bet he'll bring it at Pre-State.
23. Moises Herrera - 12th - North Marion HS  (NR) 17:18 two weekends ago at Celtic Invite to finish 2nd. PR'd at UF on 9/20 breaking 17 for the first time and is yet to race this month. Senior is looking for a good finish.
24. Mark Edward -12th - Wolfson HS  (NR) 16:57 at Mandarin Invite to place second behind teammate Vaughan. Hate to put him this low (9:42 3200), but his first sub 17 performance has him in the top 25.
25. Mason Gerry - 11th - Bishop Kenny HS (NR) 17 flat at Great American to finish 24th in Red Invite race. With a 16:56 PR from last year's state meet, he looks ready to mix things up in Invitational race at Pre-State.

  Notable names left off:
A month into the season and still no sign of Caleb Pottorff. I presume he has an injury of some sort, but I couldn't leave one of the best runners in 2A last year off just incase.
Leonal Ochoa had a rough race at the Seffner Christian Invitational (9/27) finishing 13th in 17:39. It is a slow course, but he ran 18:11 Friday night at flrunners.com large school race to place 22nd.

Team Rankings:

Commentary:  Sorry for it being late!!!

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. St. Thomas (9,5,1) The only hesitation with putting St. Thomas #1 is that they have not raced in 2014.
2. Columbus (4,6,3) If the Hellions want to take a stab at the Title they need to find 1 more front runner in the top 15.
3. Lyman (3,1,2) Lyman has the best 1-2-3 in 4A.
4. Winter Park (1,4,5) The Park looks like itself again after a strong showing at Great American.
5. Coral Reef (5,8,6) If reef can get its 3-4-5 to have a 30sec gap we may have a crowned champion in 2014.
6. Ferguson (13,14,15) A round of applause for the Falcons they may be a sleeper team in 2014 with a 15 sec spread.
7. Lake Mary (2,2,4) The injury bug keeps biting the Rams it seems they will fall short in 2014.
8. HB Plant (18,3,7) This has to be the most confusing team to judge out there in Hillsborough. Plant will be the ROC this Saturday, and it should give us more information
9. Flagler Palm Coast (10,11,8) FPC has layed low in 2014 watch for them to come out strong at FSU.
