Whitney's All-Time Marks At USA Juniors Earn MileSplit Performance Of The Year

Our national team recently compiled their Best of 2014 - Top 10 Performances list and East Ridge junior Kaylin Whitney topped the list. Whitney was the sprint queen in her sophomore season. At the USATF Junior Nationals, she ran 11.10 to break the high school 100m national record. Later in the week, she ran 22.49 in the 200m to set the fastest high school 200m time by a girl at low altitude. Her time was the US#2 all-time all-conditions mark, only behind Allyson Felix's 22.11 at altitude in Mexico City, 2003.

She dominated the world scene, winning three medals, including individual gold in the 200, bronze in the 100, and leading Team USA to the 8th fastest 4x100 time in World Juniors history earning her numerous accolades including IAAF World Juniors Championship Performer of the Year.

These performances for team USA were the icing on top of a spectacular year for Whitney who also won state championships in the 100 and 200 and continued her season with wins at the Dream 100 in New York City, and Brooks PR in Seattle.

Many have compared the youngster to Allyson Felix and say she could be the future face of the sport. It's a pretty awesome feeling knowing we have a future Olympian right in our backyard!
