TFA senior Teahna Daniels (neon green shorts) lived up to her namesake as queen of the short sprints. Daniels, the University of Texas signee came into the finals of the girls 60m dash at NBNI with the top time from the semifinals. In the finals she set a US#1 mark and personal best time of 7.33 to win the first national championship of her high school career. Interview: Teahna Daniels Post-Race
Daniels will now shift her attention to the outdoor season where she has the US#1 time in the 100m with an 11.60. She will take this week off before heading out to her future home in Austin for the Texas Relays. Following that Daniels will head to Florida Relays (where she beat now turned pro Kaylin Whitney) last year, and then focus on the state series where she plans to defend her 1A state titles in the 100 and 200 meters.
Pasco junior Alfreda Steele, competing on the largest stage of her high school career, won her
preliminary heat, was second to Daniels in the semifinals, and finished 7th in the finals. Steele was the 2A 100m champion and 2A 200m runner-up last year!
