
With the only thing seemingly able to beat him being personal illness, Tallahassee Leon runner Sukhi Khosla took to Florida State's Mike Long Track with a crowd of desperate, high-quality runners ready to dethrone the king of distance.
But even without being 100 percent, Khosla still defended his FSU Relays' 3200 invitational title, albeit a few seconds slower than the 8:59 he ran a year ago.
Khosla kicked into the lead with 300 meters to go, then held off everyone in the final straightaway, winning in 9:03.57, just three tenths of a second ahead of Windermere Prep's Franco Martins.
"In Florida, I haven't not been in that top spot for a long time and I haven't been that close to not winning a race for a long time, so I was pretty scared because it's not something I'm used to," Khosla said.
