Khalifa St. Fort raised eyebrows when she beat a loaded field at the Golden South Classic to punch her ticket to the Dream 100. At Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago she continued to wow, winning the U18 Junior Championship in the 100m with a time of 11.87.
St. Fort, who has been training with one of the island greatest sprinters, Olympian and NBC broadcast analyst Ato Boldon, will represent her country for the first time at the 2015 IAAF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia July 15-19, 2015. Boldon says despite the win the two have more work to do before her upcoming meets.
"She had an awful transition. I have to tweak her start big time before New York (Dream 100), but she competed and won and that's the most important thing. To compete well, she can't run like she did today and win in New York so we have to fix some things which is fine. I like to tinker and her whole season has been one big exercise in fixing and re-fixing."
