Behind The Lens: Floridians Experience World Youth Championships

Mason had time to post for a picture later in the week with South Florida's Jamal Walton. Walton, who didn't compete in FHSAA sanctioned meets and run unattached, suited up in the red, white, and blue, but of his native Cayman Islands. Walton came into the meet with a state leading and top ten nation time of 46.16, and bested that with a fourth place showing of 45.99 in a race that saw the top four under 46s. Miami Gardens XPress coach Darius Lawshea told me that Walton posted those times with only a week and a half of training under his belt!
