Dr. Phillips Sprinter Alvin Bryant Falls In Love With LSU, Commits To Tigers

Alvin Bryant is one of the top two-sport athletes in the country. A sprint star and and standout on the football field at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Bryant has said he will focus on track at the next level, but isn't completely giving up the idea of doing both. The 2015 4A state champion in the 100 and runner-up in the 200 just announced he will be attending powerhouse LSU and talked to flrunners about the decision!

What was the recruiting process like for you?

The process was nice I enjoyed every visit and every face I seen along the way I met new people and branched out more.

When did it really take off?

I saw it take off right before football season, that's when all the calls came in.

How important was it for you to commit early?

I decided to commit early get the biggest part of the recruiting process out of the way which is deciding where I'll be next fall.

You mentioned now you will just focus on track. How hard of a decision was that for you?

It's hard, probably the hardest decision I've ever made in my life, but I'm still working on trying to make a move to get on at least a special teams unit if possible. I'm not ready to give it all up, but if I have to I have no choice.

What schools did you consider?

I considered TCU, FSU, Baylor, and UNC.

In the end you picked LSU one of the most storied track and field programs. What sold you on the Tigers?

What sold me on LSU is one the fact they were my first offer for track. Coach Bennie has shown nothing but love since the first day he started recruiting me and they told me they will be willing to wait for when I'm ready to sign so I feel I owed them my commitment.

What are you looking forward to the most about running at the next level and what can fans expect to see out of Alvin Bryant?

I'm looking forward to championships, becoming better, and with the help from this amazing coaching staff writing history. Fans can expect to see a new man blossom one day and take on my full potential to becoming the best collegiate athlete that I can be.
