McCaffrey, also a running back, leads the nation with 3,496 all-purpose yards this season, breaking the NCAA record. A sophomore, he led a storied high school career at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. A true multi-sport athlete, McCaffery led Valor Christian to a football state title en-route to being named a two-time Gatorade football player of the year, played on a basketball team which placed second in the state and participated in two relay teams which won state championships his junior year, as well as taking sixth individually in the 100 and ninth in the 200. As a senior, the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame named him their high school athlete of the year along with distance standout Elise Cranny, who competes for Stanford as well.
