Baton Rouge, LA--With no indoor season in Florida, if you want winter races you have to travel! And this past weekend a few of our finest traveled to Louisiana to make their 2004 track & field debuts.
Bernard Middleton, a senior at Wolfson, took the only boys championship medal back to Florida. He placed first in the 400 meters with a time of 49.17, on the 200 meter track which, with its curvy nature, is considerably slower than the outdoor variety.
Sam Secord scored elite mark with a second place 1:59.26 effort in the 800 meters.
Lauren Austin, Valerie Flournoy, and Jenna Utech each scored two elite performances a piece--each competing in a total of three events in the meet. Utech took first place in the high jump with a jump of 5-7.
