Kyle Butler: Hey Ashley, congratulations on your 4A State 3200 title and 10:15!! Despite being injured, were you satisfied with your season?
Ashley Brasovan: I was pretty satisfied. I mean 3 months ago, I was about to just give up and call it a season. Being injured was definately one of the hardest mental obsticles to overcome.
KB: There are rumors that you may be running the 5k at NON?
AB:I really didn't get to do much track work this season, but I still have a pretty good base. I was thinking the 5k would probably yield better results than the two mile. I may try to do both, though.
KB: Thats awesome. What are your goals for the race?
AB: I just want to be able to say I made the best out of this season despite all the drawback in the earlier parts.
KB: After NON, what will you be doing the rest of the summer training wise?
AB: I will probably take about 10 days off and then start my base training for xc. I am also going to Coach Benson's Nike camp at the end of July.
KB: A lot of athletes are not privilaged to have great coaches. Do you have a certain coach that you will be following or do you just kind of make it up as you go?
AB: I have tried many different methods, and I think just putting together a bunch of different ideas will work best for me. Mostly I just listen to what my body tells me.
KB: Can you go through a typical week of Base training for you?
AB: It would probably consist of 50-55 miles a week with a long run, maybe a little bit of slow speedwork, some weights, and cross training.
KB: Well, you won Footlocker Nationals last year, what are your goals for this Cross Country season?
AB:Stay healthy, injury free, and have fun!
KB: Now for a couple non-running questions. Do you have any idea where you might like to go to college?
AB:I am so indecisive. I have a few in mind but I am open to anything right now.
KB: What do you like to do in your free time when your not running?
AB:I like going to the beach, scuba diving, shopping, and chillin with friends
KB: Thank you Ashley so much for your time. It has been a pleasure watching a NATIONAL CHAMPION and one of Florida's greatest distance stars of All Time run for the last 3 years!!!
AB: Thank you!
