Hy-Ly Games to Kick Off Season

LONGWOOD--Coach Fred Finke is excited about this year\'s meet that looks to bring in a great showing of Central Florida\'s high school stars. The open competition is not an official meet for FHSAA schools, but most of the area\'s talent will compete unattached in the pre-season outing.

The meet, which will take place on February 21, is named after the no-longer-existant Hy-Y Games that previously were an early February staple in the region. Lyman\'s version of the meet will have added emphasis with the absense of the Lake Mary Games which also have been scratched from this year\'s calendar.

Some non-traditional events adorn the schedule, giving athletes the opportunity to set PRs in these non-standard events. Athletes will get a chance to run 55m Dash, 55m Hurdles, 300m Dash, 600m Dash, 1500m Run, and the 3000m Run--in additional to the normal field events: long jump, discus, pole vault, and high jump.

The meet is open to all athletes 13-19 years of age, with registration the day of the meet. Field events start at 10:00am, running events at 11. Awards are 3-deep per event and the cost is $3 for everyone at the gate. All timing is FAT.
