Natalie Varela and Valerie Lastra are two of the top runners in South Florida as well as the state. Varela, a sophomore at Gulliver Prep was 4th at the 2A Cross Country Finals and recently beat NXN finalist Tsion Yared at the Under The Lights/Twilight Kickoff last weekend. Lastra, also in the class of 2020, attends Mater Academy Charter. She was the 3A runner-up in 2016 and will make her season debut on Friday.
