Niceville freshman Lillian Holtery remained undefeated this season with her third straight win. With over 250+ girls in the varsity race, Lillian's time of 18:22 earned her the top spot with McGill-Toolen's Grace Jensen (18:42) and Fort Walton Beach's Kambry Smith (19:13) finishing 2nd & 3rd respectfully.
The boys varsity race proved the importance of the number six and seven runners. Niceville and St. Paul's top five runners resulted in a 98 point tie, but Payton Watson's 41st place was enough to give Niceville the win. Ryan Von Brock of Gulf Breeze was the individual winner with a time of 16:28.
Fort Walton Beach's Ryan Sloan (17:54) took the top spot in the boy's JV race and with the help of his teammates, was able to capture the team win as well. Sophia Loy of Prattville dominated the JV girls race. running a 21:59 to beat Erin Wilcox of Niceville by nearly a minute (22:48). In the end, Niceville ultimately won the girls JV title over Baker High School.
All of the hard racing and PR's of the morning were all just a little warmup for the real competition. The Gulf Coast XC Stampede danceoOff with DJ Jammin Joe. No need for cool down runs or team stretches with the music blaring everybody was up and grooving. What great way to end this event, a good time had by all.
