Vote: Boys Track And Field Athlete Of The Week



You know its going to be a fast weekend when you have the Sam Burley Classic and the Bolles Bulldog Classic highlighting the weekend. A distance showcase and a speedster classic really set the tone for some US #1 marks as well as many FL #1 times. Make sure to vote for your favorite boys athlete of the week and check back later to see who took the week's top honor.

About The Nominees:

Dylan Jean-Baptiste: The junior from Winter Park HS notched the FL #4 mark in the triple jump as he won the 43rd Annual Eagle Invitational. Baptiste jumped 47-1.75 at Monteverde Academy to move up in the state rankings. 

Thomas Burns: The University of Miami signee notched the US #1 300 hurdle mark as he absolutely exploded at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational. The reigning 3A State champ in the 300 hurdles ran a season best of 36.97, as Burns seems to be taking mid-season shape. 

Jermanie Byrd: The senior from St Thomas Aquinas HS set the US #2 and FL #1 time in the 110 hurdles as Byrd broke 14 seconds, as he ran 13.99. The two time 4A Region 4 winner took the win at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational, as Byrd will be a top contender to win the 4A 110 Hurdles State Championship.  

Tyrese Cooper: The Miami Norland HS junior continued his 400-meter excellence as he nudged fellow speedster Jamal Walton to win the 400 at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational. Cooper's 46.40 is a US #1 time and followed that up with a runner-up in the 200, where he already holds the US #2 time.

Charles Hicks: The highly touted junior from Bolles HS dropped a blazing 9:04.56 at the Bolles Bulldog Classic. Hicks had the US #2 time as he finished second to Belmont signee Jacob McLeod who ran 9:03.44. Hicks is also the 2A XC FHSAA Cross Country Champion.   

Milton Ingraham: The senior from Hallandale HS continues to be the favorite in the throwing events for 2A. Ingraham continued his tear as he threw 55-9.25 in the shot put to win the shot and the discus at the Hallandale Invitational. Milton already holds the FL #1 in the shot put and discus.  

Jacob Lemmon: A new name makes the list, as the junior from Fort Myers HS won the discus at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational. Lemmon threw 172-1 feet as he still holds the FL #2 mark in the discus.

Jacob Miley: The junior from Matanzas HS used an impressive AAU season last year to start to get some recognition, and now Miley is really starting to bring it. He now holds the US #3 and FL #1 best 800 mark of the season with a time of 1:54.28. Miley took the win at the Bolles Bulldog Classic as he is now the new leader in the clubhouse for 3A. 

Noah Mumme: When it comes to consistency in the pole vault, its been the senior from Satellite HS who has weekly continued his dominance as he took the US #1 mark of 16-0.75. Mumme vaulted to a new personal best as he continues his impressive senior campaign at the Satellite Invitational.  

Chase Rivera: The junior from Bolles HS, who is often under shadowed by teammate Charles Hicks, stepped into his own as he took the #4 US time in the 1600 with a 4:16.76. Rivera took full advantage of racing at his home track, as he ran away from the field to take the win at the Bolles Bulldog Classic. 

Anthony Schwartz: It didn't take long for Schwartz to return to this list as he dropped the US #1 100 and 200 meter-dash time at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational. Although his 10.13 was not wind legal by .1 m/s of wind, the Auburn signee dropped a 20.47 to take the cake for the 200 and outkick Tyrese Cooper to steal the win. 

Shaun Shivers: the Auburn signee opened up his 100 meter dash season with an impressive time of 10.48, which was the fastest legal time of the weekend. Shivers the senior from Chaminade-Madonna College Prep, the runner-up in the 100 of the 2A State Championship last year, took the win in the 100 and 200 at the Hallandale Invitational.
