Anthony Schwartz will leave his mark as one of the best high school sprinters ever. The American Heritage senior and Auburn signee cemented that legacy leaving a loaded field in his wake at the 2A Region 4 championship with a new personal best time of 10.14s, tying Noah Lyles for sixth fastest time ever in U.S. history. It is second all-time in Florida behind only former South Lake HS standout and Florida Gator Jeff Demps who ran 10.01 and 10.12 in 2008.
"It feels great," he said after his performance. "Just from the start I knew it was going to be fast. I had a great start. When I get up I feel like nobody can catch me. As soon as I got up i felt like it was over from there, but i made sure to just keep going and i didn't slow down."

In addition to his 10.14 at regionals, Schwartz has also run 10.13w (2.1 m/s) at Sam Burley and then followed that up with performances of 10.18 in the prelims and 10.16 in the finals at Florida Relays. His personal best was in Gainesville last year when he set the track on fire with his time of 10.15s.
If the 100m wasn't enough damage, Schwartz who plans to do both track and football at the next level, anchored his star studded 4x100m relay to a time of 40.81 and was two one-hundredths off of his personal best in the 200m running 20.49s to close out the night. He told us after the 100, he'd love to go sub 10 next week at state, but even more important is getting the rings that eluded him last season.
