In her first recorded track season, Winborn raced an 11:48 for the 3200m and 5:34 for the 1600m. This is her second cross country season and it started off with a bang.
Winborn is one of the top 50 rising juniors amongst the girls cross country returnees. Sunlake HS has a consistent team with their top 3: Winborn, Shannon Gordy, and Emily Jenkins sub 21 minutes.
Keep an eye out for Winborn and her team at the Buffalo Invitational and flrunners.com Invitational 19.
Boys Preseason Athlete of the Week:
Gabriel Montague won the fan vote for the best boys preseason performance. The Satellite sophomore ran a personal best of 16:01 at the Wickham park Jamboree. Prior to this race, Montague had a personal best of 16:24 and a 19th place finish at the 2017 state finals.
This track season, Montague had a minimal racing schedule having a total of nine races: five 3200m, two 1600m, one 800m, and one indoor mile. Montague has a PR of 9:55 in the 3200m.
There is great talent on the east coast as Montague is joined by his teammates Justin Wilson and Josh Stern to put Satellite HS as the number one ranked boys team this season so far.
