Henne and Magoulas opened their freshman cross country season with a bang. Coming off fantastic track seasons as eighth graders, Henne and Magoulas have proved to be top names in the state, early in their career.
Henne and the Montverde Academy team had their season opener at the Jim Ryun Invitational. Henne won the varsity girls race in a time of 18:50, looking strong every step of the way.
As an eighth grader, Henne PR'ed in both the 3200m and 1600m running 10:58 and 5:06 for the distances.
Henne ran the Holloway Park course last year at the flrunners.com Invitational where she ran a time of 18:54. Henne ran the same course this year, a month earlier, and had a finishing time four seconds faster than the previous year.
Henne's 18:50 performance puts her not only as the number four ranked girl in the state, but also the only freshman in the top 20.

Adam Magoulas is back for his second cross country season and had his season opener at the Fleet Feet Invitational, winning the race in a time of 16:41.
As an eighth grader, Magoulas took his 5k time from a 17:42 down to a 16:32 over the course of four months.This season, Magoulas starts off his season 10 seconds from his personal best and with his first cross country win.
Magoulas had a very consistent speedy track season, running PR's of 9:38 for the 3200m and 4:33 for the 1600m.
The Belen Jesuit boys cross country team had a strong summer training block, going off to the clay roads in Clermont and training at altitude in Colorado.
Magoulas is one of 19 freshman on the team this year.

We can expect to see more fast performances from Magoulas and his teammates as we get further into the season.
