Northeast senior and USC signee, Jan'Taijah Ford, was announced Florida's Girls Track and Field Gatorade Athlete of the Year earlier this week.
Ford was the FHSAA 3A 200m and 400m state champion and holds nationally ranked PR's of 23.30 in the 200m and 51.57 in the 400m. This past week at New Balance Outdoor Nationals, Ford raced her way to All-American status in the 400m, placing third in a time of 52.46.
According to Gatorade's press release, "Ford will become the first member of her family to graduate high school and attend college."
The future USC trojan has been a star on the track and in the classroom, often volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club and being a mentee with the Women of Tomorrow youth empowerment organization.
This multi-time state champion and 400m Brooks PR champion is the 2018-2019 Florida Gatorade Girls Track Athlete of the Year and joins recent graduates and fellow Athletes of the Year, Caitlin Collier, Symone Mason, Ka'Tia Seymour, and Nicole Green.
