State champs Jenny Barringer, Oviedo 2005, Nicole Schappert, Boca Raton Pope John Paul II 2005, Jackie Areson, Boca Raton Pope John Paul II 2006, and Foot Locker cross country finalist, Laura Bowerman, Tampa King 2004 square off in the mile Saturday night at the RunFlorida All-Comers meet at Oak Hall School in Gainesville, FL.
The girl's mile will be contested at 8:00PM.
Barringer's best this season for 1600m is 4:48.90( #5 FL-All-Time, state meet record holder and #2 in the nation in the 1600m and #3 in the nation in the mile), Schappert's is 4:55 (#14 FL All-Time and # 8 in the nation in the 1600m), Areson's is 4:53.67c (4:55.37 mile indoors, #9 FL All-Time and #21 in the 800m), and Bowerman's is 5:04.
This will be the first meeting this season where all four are running the same race. Several national bests and all-time records will be in jeopardy.
The 1600m best this season, 4:47.33 was set by junior Erin Bedell of Plano West in winning the Texas 5A championships in Austin, TX on Saturday, May 15.
The fastest mile run this year is 4:48.55 by junior Sarah Bowman of Fauquier(Warrenton, VA) at the Penn Relays on April 22, 2004. That time is equivalent to 4:46.88 for 1600m. The fastest 1500m this season is 4:27.94 by Magin Kebert of Harrison(West Lafayette, IN)on May 7.
FAT( fully automatic timing) will be used to time the 1500m mark in the mile. The Florida state record for the 1600m is 4:43.5c(4:24.09 1500m) by Robin Campbell of Gainesville Oak Hall in 1976. Campbell ran 4:21.1 for 1500m in 1974 as a freshman at Eastern, Washington, DC.
The meet is set to begin at 7:00PM with the 800m. The mile will follow at 8:00PM and the Two mile will be contested last at 8:45PM.
