Kambry Smith, Fransciso Ramirez, and both Niceville boys and girls teams added wins to this season's resume at the Pace Patriot Invitational.
Smith Continues Her Undefeated Season
Fort Walton Beach junior, Kambry Smith, continued her undefeated streak this weekend with a 18:29 varsity girls win. She won her season opener at the Panhandle Cross Country Challenge at the end of August in a cruising time of 18:51.
Niceville's Lillian Holtery finished in a strong second, leading the Niceville ladies to a team win over Fort Walton Beach.
This is the second week that both ladies have dominated both first and second place.
Ramirez Defends Home Turf
Pace junior, Francisco Ramirez, opened up his season by defending his home turf in the varsity boys race, winning in a time of 16:33.74. He is coming off a strong PR track season, running a 10:11.38 in the 3200m and 4:46.05 in the 1600m. This is a new PR and nearly a minute faster year-over-year on this same course. Ramirez has started strong on his quest to the state meet this November.
Pensacola's James Simkins and West Florida's Phillip Gindl finished second and third in 16:53 and 17:07, respectively.
Niceville senior duo, Finn Hodge and Jake Dever, lead their varsity boys squad to the team win with their fourth and fifth place finishes in 17:11 and 17:12.
