With three championship teams, two individual state champions, one runner-up team, and over 15 all-state medalists Hillsborough County schools cleaned house this weekend at the FHSAA State Finals.
The Newsome girls and Steinbrenner boys finished their strong seasons with team titles in the 4A championship races.
The Newsome ladies were led by all-state medalists Emma Solis (18:19) and Keleigh Scallon (18:42) with a team average of 19:05 and a 99 point victory over Chiles.
Steinbrenner have been state title contenders over the past few seasons and this weekend they brought it home over Nease with 129 points. The "Boss Cross" proved that they had the stronger pack of the year, with a team average of 16:15 -- over 10 seconds more than Nease. Josh King led the Steinbrenner boys with a 38 second 1-5 split to bring home the victory.
Hillsborough county private school, Seffner Christian, brought home the 1A boy team title with 69 points over Oak Hall's 98. John McKenzie (15:59) and Marcus Nipper (16:14) led the Seffner boys to a predicted team victory and brought home individual honors themselves. 
On the individual side, Alyssa Hendrix defended her 4A state title for Riverview with a speedy kick to close out the fastest race of the day in a time of 17:19 over Parker Valby's 17:30.
The boys 3A race brought an individual win from Robinson's Ethan Geiger in a time of 15:26 over Anderson Denton's 15:39. Geiger led the Robinson boys to the school's first cross country podium finish with 81 points to take second to powerhouse Belen.
Jake Turner, Reed Legg, Keith Gibson, Jared Hammill, Ryan Maney, Dominic Acosta, Richard Bennett are all of Hillsborough County boys that brought home individual honors in each of their races. On the girls side, Megan Hughes, Eliana Black, Kana Kosaka, Lydia Friedman all earned top 15 place finishes in their divisions.
