Milton HS Mourns Loss of Track and Field Coach Joe Austin


The Milton High School track and field community is mourning the loss of their track and field coach Joe Austin this week. 

After an long battle with COVID-19, better known as the coronavirus, Austin passed away on Sunday night. 


"Whether you needed a little advice, a little feedback, a little tough love or just a big laugh or two, Joe Austin was always there to help," Kevin Robinson and Eric Wallace of the Pensacola News Journal recall in a recent article. 


As a respected Coach in the North West Florida area, Austin is recalled to be a "Tremendous guy," by Fort Walton Beach football and track and field coach Kevin Rollins


Prior to the Coronavirus shutdown, Austin coached his athletes to an exceptional finish at the 39th Annual Frank Lay Patriot Invitational back in February. Joe Austin will be remembered as an exceptional Dean for the students at the Martin Luther King Middle School in Milton, and a wonderful coach for the track and field athletes at Milton High.
