Keleigh Scallon announced her verbal commitment to the University of Florida on Monday. The Newsome mid-distance star took to Instagram to announce the news.

I am beyond thrilled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career of running Cross Country and Track at the University of Florida!!! Scallon kicked off her senior cross country season by winning the Babe Zaharias Twilight Challenge with a time of 19:43 and following it up with a 19:01. Last season she clocked a new 5k PR of 18:13 at her regional meet and helped lead her team to a state title with a 13th place finish at the 4A state finals last November.

The multi-time state medalist in track and field holds PRs of 5:00 for the 1600m, 2:12 for 800m, and 11:21 for the 3200m.

The 2019 FHAA 4A State Final 800m runner-up, will join her former Newsome teammate, Emma Solis, as a Gator come fall 2021.
