Fort Lauderdale State Medalist Commits to Florida

Fort Lauderdale HS state medalist, Michael Fiore, announced his commitment to the University of Florida.

The senior took to Instagram to announce the news

Fiore's senior cross country season will look different than most as his commitment news is followed by Broward County's decision to opt-out of the state series this year.

Michael Fiore Excited for his "Last Dance"

That hasn't stopped Fiore from going after his goals this season. The senior raced his way to a new 5k cross country PR of 15:38 at the Cecil Field Summer Classic and then followed that up with a 16:01 the next week at the Set Goals Not Limits Jamboree.

The future Gator will now focus his efforts on the upcoming track season. His 1:56 800m and 4:20 1600m PR's from 2020 will set him up for great success this 2021 outdoor campaign. Expect to see him bring these performances, along with his 9:33 3200m PR, down this upcoming spring.

Fiore joins Newsome senior Keleigh Scallon as the two lone University of Florida commits thus far this season.
