Weekend Rundown: Meng Leads Fort Myers Win at Bishop Verot

Fort Myers junior Amy Meng ran a fantastic race this weekend at the Viking XC Invite. The newly seasoned cross country athlete raced her way to a second place finish in the varsity girls race against Jessica Edwards and ended up with a new PR of 18:42.01 for the 5k distance. Meng and Edwards pushed the pace through the first 2.5 miles, with Edwards taking the lead in the last half mile. The junior's second place finish brought home a team win for the Lee County stars against Miami's Our Lady of Lourdes.

Prior to her 18:45 performance, Meng ran a 20:06 at the Fort Myers Invite in early September and brought that down to a 19:07 at the Immokalee Invitational two weeks ago. In just her second cross country season, Meng has proven that she will be one to watch in class 3A this championship season.
