MileSplit.com and flrunners.com will be LIVE streaming next Friday at Bartram Trail the first annual Florida True Team Championship event. We are excited to partner and help grow this new event put on by meet director and Bartram Trail coach David Frank which provides a unique, but compelling meet format on how to score a track meet.
As most track fans and coaches have witnessed at most state meets, it does not always require a full team of athletes, but a few star individuals to win or score a lot of points for a team to be propelled in a state championship event.
An idea that has duplicated in other states most notably in Midwest states of Minnesota and Michigan with the adoption as well as the organization of their state's coaches associations, the True Team Championship concept rewards teams for their depth as a squad.
In this year's meet format for the Florida True Team Championships, point scoring will be going all the way down to 15th place for individual events (15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 pts), while the top 5 teams will score in the relays (15, 12, 9, 6, 3 pts) and the meet will be separated by large schools (3A, 4A) and small schools (1A, 2A).
