Justin Ruiz ran so well in JV races all season that he finally got a chance to bump up to varsity for the stacked and deep Belen Jesuit squad at the Pre-State meet posting a time of 17:06 at Apalachee Regional Park in the elite race. Earlier in the season, Ruiz had won several JV races at major invitationals including at Spanish River Invite in a 16:57 PR as well at the King of the Hill Meet. With the youth movement and rising talents among their underclassmen group like Ruiz, head coach Frankie Ruiz will have to make some decisions who will be in their varsity lineup in the championship season meets coming up.
