Rheinhardt Harrison, a senior at Nease High School with a 4:01 PR for the mile, will be racing at the distance for the first time in 2022 on Saturday at the University of Arkansas in Tyson Invitational against collegiate and professional competition.
The race is slated to start close to 3:30 PM ET and can watch live on ESPN+ here or find live results here. After making his debut to indoor track racing last month at the VA Showcase running the nation's second-fastest high school time ever at 1000 meters in 2:22.77, Harrison actually missed a week of training between now and then due to coming down with the coronavirus.
After getting back into his normal training routine over the last two weeks, Harrison will test his fitness once again in Fayetteville on Saturday and see how close he is to his quest of breaking 4 minutes before he graduates high school. His remarkable 1000 meter performance last month certainly indicated that could come sooner than later. Possibly this weekend?
