St. Thomas Aquinas Boys Clock Nation's Best 3:13 4x400

The St. Thomas Aquinas boys 4x400 meter relay squad consisting of sophomore Christopher Adams III, junior British Wilkerson, junior Shamar Morgan, and junior King Mack clocked the nation's fastest time of the season in the relay event on Friday night at the BCAA Championships hosted by Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale.

The quartert finished off the meet which ended with another team title for their program simply running away from the other top relays in Broward County with a scorching 3:13.98 performance to move to the top of the national leaderboard. The prior top time in the country sat at 3:14.44 by Summer Creek of Texas.

Only two seconds off their program's school record of 3:11.49 from a 2011 squad at the Florida Relays,  and no seniors in their lineup could we be seeing the makings of a group that not only could break their school's own all-time best but become Florida's all-time best and take down the 3:10.56 state record currently held by Miami Northwestern from the 2017 Florida Relays?

The St. Thomas Aquinas boys will have a season and half to chase after the state record. Their top leg and anchor in King Mack also broke 47 seconds in the open 400 for the first time at the BCAA Championships winning the event with a US #4 personal best time of 46.89.

The relays are certainly the backbone of the St. Thomas Aquinas program as they nearly swept all.3 relay races at the BCAA Championships with their 4x800 meter relay winning in a time of 8:09.57, while their 4x100 meter relay finished a close second place to Dillard (41.46) in a swift time of 41.49.

Not to be outdone by their male counterparts, the St. Thomas Aquinas girls also sit on the top of the pedestal of the national rankings in the 4x400 meter relay after a 3:48.37 victory at the BCAA Championships as they were able to stay ahead of Dillard (2nd, 3:51) in the meet finale race, who ultimately knocked them off for the BCAA Championships team title on the evening in a final team score 154 1/2 points for Dillard compared to 123 points for St. Thomas Aquinas.
