IMG Academy senior David Frasier had left his home state of Virginia and one of the more dominant track programs in that state, especially known for their development of hurdlers, in Western Branch High School to attend the boarding school of IMG for his last year of high school.
The debatable decision of where to continue his athletic development seems to have paid off. His outdoor season in Florida competing for IMG Academy has been virtually flawless winning all of his hurdle races whether for the 110 and 300 meters with the lone exception being a fifth-place clocking of 14.38 at the Florida Relays in the 110-meter hurdles.
On Saturday at the Golden South Series #1, Frasier exected a near-perfect race from start to finish as he nearly broke 14 seconds with a personal best and wind-legal performance of 14.09 to win while being pressed early on by Sarasota junior Tyler Boyer (2nd, 14.36) and Northeast (Oakland Park) senior Jameli Thomas (3rd, 14.49).
One of the more impressive performances of the meet and in particular for the sprint and hurdle races on the evening in Fort Myers with his winning time ranking as the fourth-fastest performance of the season in Florida and top 50 in the nation (US #43).
Frasier still has more competitions left this summer to chase after sub 14 including a trip to nationals with the IMG Academy in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field. He will be headed back to his home state as the summer winds down as he has signed with the University of Virginia to embark on his collegiate career next.
