American Heritage senior Braylen Bennett, the defending 3A state champion in both the 100m and 200m, continued his outstanding senior season with smooth wins at the District 15 meet. Bennett clocked 10.35 in the 100m and a wind-aided 20.74 in the 200m, backing up his current No. 2 state ranking in the 100m (10.14) and No. 1 mark in the 200m (20.65).
The 3A sprint scene is shaping up to be one of the top postseason showdowns in the state. Rickards senior Davion Crumitie, the state leader in the 100m and No. 2 in the 200m, advanced comfortably from District 2 with wins of 10.22w and 20.98w, while also contributing a leg on the winning 4x100 relay. Wesley Chapel's Brady Pineo added his name to the mix with District 8 victories in the 100m (10.32) and 200m (20.92), along with a leg on the winning 4x100 relay.
In the 400m, Plantation sophomore Jason Thomas delivered one of the top performances of the districts, winning District 15 in 46.98. The mark moves him to No. 1 in the 3A rankings and No. 5 overall in Florida this season.
The 800m field remains one of the deepest in 3A. Belen Jesuit's Jack Michalak leads the classification at 1:51.19, with teammate Marcelo Mantecon close behind at 1:51.75. While Mantecon's postseason focus may shift, the event is loaded with contenders including Choctawhatchee's Brendan Cutler (1:58.88 District 2 winner), Ponte Vedra's Miles Wicks (1:56.96 District 4 winner), Dunbar's Chancey Alexander (1:55.72 District 11 winner), Northeast's Prince Valbru (1:57.08 District 14 winner), and Belen Jesuit's Armando Cruz, who have all posted sub-1:54 splits this season. Cruz showed his range at District 16, placing 4th in the 800m (2:02.22), 2nd in the 1600m (4:23.03), and winning the 3200m (9:26.33).
Mantecon remains one of the nation's premier distance runners, holding the 3A state leads in both the 1600m (4:04.83) and 3200m. The defending 3200m state champion (8:56.89), he is currently ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 2 all-time in Florida with an 8:35.33. At District 16, he won the 800m (2:01.39) while placing 4th in the 1600m and 3rd in the 3200m.
Dunbar senior Kobe Johnson, the 3A state leader in the 110m hurdles (13.80), doubled up at District 11 with wins in the 110mH (14.13) and 400mH (54.03), solidifying his title contender status in both events.
In relay action, Dillard leads the 3A rankings in the 4x100m with a 40.66. North Miami moved to No. 2 after running 40.81 to win District 16, while Bishop Moore remains in contention with a season-best 40.88 after placing second at District 6.
The high jump saw multiple athletes clear 2.02m across districts, highlighting strong depth. Citrus sophomore Braelin Cobb won District 5 with a 2.02m clearance to move into a tie for No. 2 in the state rankings. He is joined at that height by Milton's Tate Rodriguez and Pensacola Washington's Tylan Chambers, while several others hovered around 1.82m across districts.
In the pole vault, Niceville senior Jacob Kincaid, the defending state champion, cleared 4.20m to win District 2. He currently sits at No. 4 in 3A with a season-best of 4.50m.
Manatee junior Candler Johnson, the defending long jump state champion, continues to lead 3A with a 7.57m mark this season. He secured the District 10 title with a 7.29m jump, added a triple jump win (13.52m), and placed second in the 100m (10.93) in a strong all-around performance.
Niceville's throwing duo of Nathaniel Krider and Charlie Perkins headline the shot put. Perkins leads 3A with an 18.56m mark, while Krider sits No. 2 at 17.43m. At the District 2 meet, Perkins took the win with a 17.58m throw, with Krider finishing second at 16.38m, setting up a compelling postseason battle between teammates.
