Mary Ellen Eudaly Runs FL #5 All-Time 4:45 Mile In St. Louis


Cambridge Christian senior Mary Ellen Eudaly ran a personal best mile time of 4:45.55, which moves her up to #5 all-time in Florida high school history, with her third-place finish at the HOKA Festival of Miles high school girls mile race on Thursday night in St. Louis, Missouri.

Winning the race was former IMG Academy runner Tatum David, who returned back to her home state of Illinois this past year, with a time of 4:42.15. It was a deep field with a total of 13 girls breaking 5 minutes in the race.

Eudaly now has the second-fastest 1600-meter time in state history at 4:44.76 (along with breaking the state meet record in the event at 4:48.27) as well as a top 5 time on the all-time list at the full mile distance. She was coming off breaking 2:10 for the first time and running a PR of 2:09.52 for 800 meters at the Golden South Track Series #1 on the following weekend in Fort Myers.

Her mile performance on Thursday evening would convert to a 1600 meter time in the 4:43's and ranks 18th fastest in the nation currently this season.

It remains to be seen if this will be the last high school race for Eudaly before she heads off to the University of Arkansas in the fall.
