Micayah Holland Clocks US #4 All-Time 100m In All-Conditions

Micayah Holland, a junior at Montverde Academy, clocked the 4th fastest time in all conditions for the 100 meter dash in United States high school history, with a wind-aided 11.09 clocking (+2.6 m/s) in the prelims at the Star Athletics Sprint Series on Saturday hosted at her home track of Montverde Academy.

Only national record holder Briana Williams at a wind-legal 10.94 (2019), Candace Hill at a wind-legal 10.98 (2015), and Angela Williams at a wind-aided 10.98 (1997) have run faster than Holland's race this past weekend as an amateur status high school athlete in U.S. history.

Unfortunately for Holland racing later in the day against a professional field of athletes in the finals and second heat, she pulled up mid-race while starting out in the lead. Hopefully, the injury is nothing serious to shut down her year of racing but it just might. Holland had the 10th fastest time of the prelims among 31 competitors including some Olympians and among the World's best sprinters just ahead of her with their preliminary times.

Her teammate and Montverde Academy junior Micah Larry also held his own against the pros in the men's 100-meter dash clocking the 7th fastest time overall in the finals with a swift wind-aided personal best clocking of 10.16 (+2.9 m/s) competing in the same heat of a world-class pro such as Marvin Bracy winning the heat in 9.80. Larry also showed his consistency in the prelims clocking a swift 10.17, which was wind-aided as well.

Larry, already ranked US #6 with his best wind-legal time of the season at 10.26, his 10.16 PR race on Saturday ranks just inside the top 10 nationally for all conditions in the 100-meter dash including performances that were wind-aided or without wind information.

Sandalwood sophomore Brittney Jennings dipped under 14 seconds once again in the 100-meter hurdles as she finished 3rd at the Star Athletics Sprint Series in a wind-aided performance of 13.88 at +3.5 m/s. The fourth-fastest hurdler in the state this year, Jennings bested her prior PR of 13.92 from the FHSAA State Championships in a third-place finish in the loaded 4A race with Skye Tolbert and Chelsi Williams.
