Freshmen Boys Athlete Of The Year 
Editor's Pick - Shaddai Carter (Christopher Columbus)


Shaddai Carter of Christopher Columbus was one of only two freshmen boys to win a state title this spring along with Dillard thrower Armondo Blount (3A state champion in shot put) as he leaped to a personal best leap of 7.12 meters to win the 4A state title in the long jump. Carter was the leading freshmen performer statewide in not only the long jump but the triple jump as well at 13.9 meters.

Carter won his last 10 meets of the season in the long jump, while was the GMAC champion, as well as a district and region champ in the triple jump before a 7th place finish in the state meet 

Fan's Poll Winner - Blake Young (Indian Rocks Christian)


Indian Rock Christian's Blake Young was one of only a handful of freshmen distance runners to break 4:30 in the 1600 meters with a 4:29.49 personal best, but the lone state meet qualifier among that group in the event as a ninth-place finisher at 4:30.74 in the FHSAA 1A State Championships.
