Meet Preview: flrunners.com PR Festival On The Track

Girls 800

In the girls 800 meter run, we will see the return of racing to past state champion (2021 4A)) 1600 meter runner Haley Thornton from Palm Harbor University, who did not race once this past cross country season, but owns an 800 meter personal best of 2:16 from a third place finish in last May's FHSAA 4A State Finals.

After her there will be a pack of girls vying to run in the 2:20's despite being well before the speed work kicks in for track season including Palm Beach County runner-up Jessica Boyanich with a 2:22.43 lifetime best and Our Lady of Lourdes Academy sophomore Lucia Castillia Rios, who ran 2:24 last spring to become a district champion as a ninth grader.

Satellite's Nia Singleton could be one to watch in the 800 meter race as well as last year while competing in Georgia before the move down to Florida was a state qualifier at the 6A classification in this event with a 2:25 personal best.
